During the two hurricanes around me you were an invaluable resource Cypress. Thanks again.
I keep forgetting how many issues Jim had with covering the hurricanes. I remembered the second storm, but not the first one.
I watched the show last night, but missed the first part. I watched the rest this morning. Some interesting info for sure. I never pay attention to how the NHC did numerically in the models. And, I didn't know the HAFS-A did so well. I think the issue I have with that one sometimes is that it can't be relied on too much I think when something is weak or doesn't yet have a well defined circulation. It will try to make things into very powerful hurricanes. Once it has a better handle on the storm, then it seems to be more reliable. If it does make it into a powerful hurricane at that point, then it's worth paying much more attention.
I created this last night, a summary of the recon this year.
I wasn't going to create an image, because I thought Google Earth would definitely crash, but I was curious. Then I ended up doing it. And created a short video.
Recon from this year:
Let's just say trying to open 163 missions at one time goes very slowly. My older computer wouldn't be able to handle a quarter of that. My newer one after a few minutes would load it. I just had to have it positioned how I wanted it because I wouldn't be able to pan after it loaded. |
