The Rays are a big story around here. I'll believe there's going to be a new stadium when it gets at least half built, lol. The drama has been going on for many years, but with the roof damage, it's gotten more complicated. I'm hoping they change their mind and move to Tampa. Tampa is staying out of it kind of for now, but some are indicating there could be a conversation if the Rays want to move across the bay. In 2018 they were talking about moving to Ybor City in Tampa but changed their mind later that year. That is still possible I guess. I'm not sure where they were going to build it exactly, as Ybor City does have some low areas. But, it would be kind of further inland in some ways. Further from the Gulf, but closer to Tampa Bay probably. It would likely be further away from higher winds. But for now it's still St. Pete, building a new stadium I guess around where the old one is. Whatever they build, it should be enclosed again. Thunderstorms and heat would be an issue if they don't. The weather isn't going to get less extreme, so for these big projects they need to make sure to build something that can withstand significant weather.
I never thought about Milton possibly being the reason the Rays move, but it might end up being the catalyst. |
