 Actually, today's shear anamoly is relatively low as well. The kicker right now is that the middle-level troposphere is dry as a bone thru most of the tropical Atlantic. High boundary-layer theta-e air is still staying pretty much south of 10N as well. A seasonal TUTT situated around 30N 45W would help a wave to pull up some of the ICTZ warm, moist air north and enhance convergence. If an anticyclone were close to the SW quadrant of the TUTT, then genesis would have a good shot.   |
