"There have been reports for days now about a plume of oil off the Al Coast."

James Carville has said that DC doesn't care about it because it is down on the bayou and not up in the NE or somewhere else. I am paraphrasing his longer declaration of his frustration and feelings and after a lot of thought I have to agree on some levels.

This is an economic sort of response or lack of response to certain reasons for possibly political reasons or rather lack of political reasons.

Yeah...sad.... poor fisherman living down on the bayou gonna have a hard time for the next five years or so... vs New Yorkers screaming bloody murder or people in New England with some political muscle or I don't know where...  Perhaps we have an attitude that is lapsidasical towards those folks down on the bayou...  but it's an entire culture, economic structure that is being destroyed at least temporarily and everyone else rushes around reading the NY Post on the subway thinking "that's really a shame... " and runs for their next stop.

As big as we are as a country.... we are very diverse and very broken down into regional attitudes towards other regions.

For Carville this was a bipartisan response as he has always been Obama's biggest supporter.... this is a regional response based on who he is and where he comes from..

And, this mess is going to affect a good part of the coastline before its over... depending on which currents it gets in... it could flow up the Florida coast with the Gulfstream IF it keeps leading THROUGH August...

AT what point does it become a National Tragedy not just a regional one and people rebook their vacations for the beaches of the Bahamas and figure they will just spend more at the market for their fish...
