I miss Quickscat  too.  That's money well spent IMHO.  I don't know what algorithm they are using that spits these circles and percentages out, but they need to get the human back into the picture and pull the reigns on the Forbin Project.  I've always believed the NHC, especially over the last 10 years, is moving towards a more automated binary driven forecast.  Whilst I agree that the the fluid dynamics math and the ability to crunch huge numbers into those equations has increased probably a thousand fold over the the last 10-15 years, this year is really feeling like a machine is running the NHC's website anyway.  I think they are playing an odds game, and with computing power available now (which has always been the holy grail of weather forecasting) humans are second guessing themselves when the machine spits out data.  Besides the fact that as time rolls on, the forecasters that modeled in their heads are slowly disappearing.   It's just scary to me.  When a tool becomes the status quo the user becomes deficient.
