"Canada is going down a dark path... and Japan was my first choice for a place out of here... yikes."

I don't understand. Compared to the rest of the world, what is particularly bad about Canada? And why the heck would a Canadian want to move to Japan?

I've been to Canada, and I've been to Japan - and I'd take Canada in a heartbeat. If you want to leave the country, why not go to France? OMG, to be young and live in Paris! (And they probably love Canadians over there.)

Denmark and Germany would be great choices too. But Japan? Even without the recent disaster Japan was in decline. It's a nation of old people with an economy that's been withering for decades. And what of the great cultural differences?

Europe is alive, exciting, vibrant and beautiful. Magnificent architecture combined with state of the art infrastructure....you can zoom around from one country to another in the blink of an eye! And a social life full of brilliant conversation and fine wine....oh my!

Okay Tim...snap out of it....quit daydreaming.....

Have you ever considered the States? You can pretty much pick whatever geography and climate you want. Southern mountains, northern mountains, western mountains....the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf of Mexico. Though people don't often think of it, one of our best cities is none other than Washington, D.C. It is extremely cosmopolitan, near both the mountains and the ocean, and has a highly variable climate (its winters are more northern while it's summers are more southern, and its spring and fall are just awesome.) I bet you'd love D.C. (be friendly and the natives will be friendly in return but if you sit around waiting for others to speak to you first you'll die of boredom.)

If you're feeling bummed out about anything, feel free to look me up on my yahoo IM (tim28403)

Chin up!
