The only way to escape politics is to move to Belgium. (Are those people crazy or what?)

Canadian politics may be a mess but do you know what's going on in the 50 states below you - much less our abomination of a federal government? We're on the path to becoming an oligarchy-theocracy. It saddens me so!

I watch lots of political discussion here on cable news; and I split my time between networks so I can get a broader picture of what's going on. Watching lots of both MSNBC (left) and Fox News (right) is a never-ending study of sociology!

What we in the U.S. call "left", the rest of Western Civilization would call "center." And what we call "right", the rest of the West would call "extreme right." Whatever the U.S. had of a far left, it long ago disappeared for all intents and purposes; while the far right has over recent decades expanded and taken over what we used to call the "right." (The old "right" has become the new "center.")

Confusing?

Whatever the case, I can't let myself get too absorbed by it - or I'd blow my brains out.
