Im in Bellmore well southwest of you.I totally agree Irene was a big deal.I feel very lucky that I never lost power or had no damage to my house.Alot of people who had no damage or did not lose power say Irene was no big deal.Well I tell these people to get out and drive around and se some of the damage,3 blocks down from me a huge tree feel on a house and did some pretty good damage to the house,One block from a huge tree fell on 2 cars,Ride down south the surge flooding was the worst I have ever seen.Some people just think about thier property,if no damage then the storm was no big deal to them.
Jimbo you have to agree with me on this.Next storm that threatens us people are not going to take it serious.The ones who were in evacuation zones and did not get damage will not heed(sp?) the warnings next time and ride out the storm in their homes.Thinking about what would happen and what people would before this storm was scary,and i think it is even more scary now.People will not leave and the surge flooding was crazy and that was just from a strong tropical storm,Don't even want to think about what a 2 or 3 will do. |
