| I don't really think any forcaster had an idea of what this storm was capible of doing and many models kept playing with the thought of a more northward trek than what actually happened. Many Floridians will tell you about how many close calls they had with storms and the the storm took a turn for elsewhere. Hurricanes, Nor'easters are very hard to nail their track. While we are all just amatures here on HC...jim does his best to get alerts out to the public, in previous years he has nailed hurricane tracks, but everyone deserves to have a break now and then. The events that occured in '39 are way different than they are now in the present day. They did not have gigantic storms then like we do now that spead out over a 500 mile radius. I believe on HC there is a link on how big was it...visit it and see the differences. |
