Cantore declared during the 7:50 Hurricane Update that Chantal WILL stay easy of Florida i.e. not a GOM system.
He also seemed way more concerned about possible rainfall than anything else. One graphic showed parts of Fl, GA, AL thru TN with 400 to 600% more rain than normal for the year.
A very wide and slow moving system with hours of 45 to 55 knot winds and huge rain totals will be a major problem for millions. Cantore implied this would be the 'worst case'
I do agree with Beach that the key is the Bermuda High. Cantore says that high will be with us all summer and "be a real problem".
I'm a monitoring his travels so we will know where Chantal will come ashore...LOL |
