Re: NOAA predicts near-normal or below-normal 2014 Atlantic hurricane season

useless and meaningless...

look at last season... so many weak storms ... look at all the after the season changes and additions that up a year's total..

it's really all about location.. which is why Jim's predictions mean so much more than playing the numbers guessing game

And...only going to say this one more time this morning...stop singing the EL NINO SONG making everyone let their guard down that we will have a "weak mild season" as strong storms often occur in weak years...

Betsy 1965
Andrew 1992

And... some places oddly get hit more in weak years. I believe Jim mentions Tampa as one case.. would love to hear him talk more and clarify that.

I'm not saying El Nino makes a stronger change for hurricanes.. I'm saying sometimes it's quality over quantity... as I said this morning in my blog

"Do not jump up and down when every weather person passes along the popular weather ditty of 2014 "El Nino is coming ...we have nothing to worry about" with a video soon to hit YouTube to the tune of the Happy Song.  No... El Nino is not necessarily a good thing in the tropics. Quantity goes down, yet so often quality goes up.  Less products are produced at the tropical hurricane factory...however the products that are produced are expensive and of the highest quality ingredients."

PS Jim.. I wouldn't feel badly about last year.. you were right on the pattern and everyone was wrong big time on the prediction of a busy season. i worry more this year that everyone is letting their guard down with all the talk of a "slow season"
