I think they were under pressure to keep it alive, in name only, in case the models did turn out to be right at the last minute. They knew the minute it was downgraded to a wave status people would ignore it. I do think one of the local meteorologist, here in WPB, did a good job of emphasizing, since yesterday, that no system that weak survives the mountains of Hispaniola. Had to keep showing the cone though because it was the NHC putting it out.
I do think people got a little to freaky about this one though. Yet every model for days, that have taken it close to Florida, had it as a Cat 1 at most. That makes it a rain event and those we can deal with. |
