Irma's structure is great.

There's no dry air anywhere near her. She's just wrapped up an EWRC that has taken nearly 48 hours to fully complete. She just needs to clear out that eye of remnant convection from the now-deceased inner ring.

Last centre pass showed no remnants of an inner wind max. The outer eyewall is a solid 40 miles with FL winds between 145-150 kts. Surface winds were even found in the NE quad at 137 kts, so the winds are back to 155 mph.

Temp diff inside the eye is 11C, so that's about as good as it was when she was at max strength. If there's anything impeding her in the short and mid terms, it is the mountains of east Cuba blocking some inflow. This will pass as she moves WNW. The other is potential core interactions with the coast of Cuba. These aside, I think we will see her Cat 5 again. I wouldn't rule out 170-175 mph again either.
