High xray activity and left coast rain

It hasn't rained here in a couple of months but it is raining now. Lot's of xray activity over the past couple of days associated with a sun spot -- see details of that at spaceweather.com.
What's interesting in the context of 'canes' is that there hasn't been one in the EPAC even though for the EPAC the season is a month old. I predicted here (if you can find my forecast in the archive) a suppressed EPAC season. Typically an EPAC storm brings us delta breezes or cooler weather--an electrics teleconnection I have written about here. But with the dam El Cajon, I predicted fewer tropical storms. I have watched the cloud patterns associated with this system in the EPAC and again it looks like the ITCZ near the drain basin of the river affected by El Cajon dam isn't showing as much life as on either side of that area, to include just south of us on the left coast. This is an unusual storm for this time of year, IMHO. The only thing usual about it is the several days of very high xray activity in front of it. |
