Lightening Activity

Looks like there was a lot of lightening strikes just as the core did its step up in temp.

Could also be correlated with the high cloud tops seen on Funktop yesterday.

It seems like the time-constants for TCs in the ITCZ are much longer than when they have factured north of of the ITCZ.

That is, they appear to be highly damped.

This is also true in general for TC's on the Bay of Bengal.

Any ideas why?
