When they were talking to someone from the PTWC, he said that these were onshore, not open ocean heights. I forget what he said the open ocean reading were, I think in centimeters, and that translates when you get to shallower water and bays. So while this map doesn't seem so bad: http://wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov/chile/chileem.jpg I think that might be open water. When it gets to shallower water it is a lot greater. |
