This is the system that Cypress posted on a couple of days ago. A very well defined "mid-level" low pressure remained over E Texas for a days. As it slowly moved NE it seemed to become better defined. Our local met (in SW La) mentioned that it almost looked as if it had tropical characteristics as it made its move into Arkansas last night (seriously). It had a tightly wound core (for a mid level system). I suppose that even though it was hundreds of miles from the Gulf, it still had quite a bit of warm tropical energy to draw upon. Sadly, 20 people at an Arkansas campground died during the flash flood. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/11/arkansas.campground.deaths/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1 |
