The economics of the area hangs in the balance. I would think that the local authorities would rush to minimize any report of this until it can no longer be denied. Your talking tourism and seafood (again). Also--the shrimpers in Delcambre, La (just south of New Iberia along the central La coast) just had their season shut down yesterday (thats the farthest west so far). I think that Hurricane Alex (and the prevailing E winds around the northern semi-circle of the system) has helped to spread the oil further west than was previously noted. |
