The hurricane center is not officially, it is a non tasked research mission.
From the remarks section of the plan of the day.
From yesterday's plan of the day:
B. NOAA'S P-3 WILL BEGIN A SERIES OF FOUR RESEARCH
MISSIONS INTO THIS AREA AT 06/2000Z TODAY AND
THEN DEPARTING EVERY 12 HRS. OPERATING ALTITUDE
12,000 FT.
Today's:
B. NOAA WILL CONDUCT RESEARCH MISSIONS INTO THIS
AREA WITH THE G-IV TAKING OFF AT 07/1730Z AND
A P-3, OPERATING AT 12,000 FT., TAKING OFF AT
07/2000Z AND AGAIN AT 08/0800Z.
