I hear you. Definitely a possibility, as nearly anything is a possibility this early in the game. I myself am not so focused on the models right now as I am on the atmospheric conditions out ahead of Irene. To me, the water vapor loop of the southeast U.S. tells the tale--far too much trough activity off the southeast coast for a storm to get shoved west into the Georgia coastline IMO. You would need a ridge to build in north of Irene as she heads closer to the coastline. We see no evidence of that now, and we see the NHC forecasting a weakening ridge over the southeast, not a strengthening one.
