Underestimating Intensity?

I seem to think that Irene will be able to strenghten signifcantly as she makes this sharp turn north.

She is making a sharp turn and I think that once she's on her new track towards NC she will strengthen again. She's seemed to have had a hard time since she started making that sharp northward turn. I suspect once she does this turn around she will continue to intesnify. She needs to stop growing as well which seems unlikely considering she keeps getting bigger.

I would not be suprised to see her reach Cat 4 (if not 5) before slowly weakening.

Even if she's west enough of the gulfstream her NE convection will feed off of it still helping to feed the system as it transveres the coast.

Very concenring mood tonight.
