So, about 5 years ago they used pressure as a reason not to upgrade a storm over the estimated wind speed, and now they use wind speed as a reason not to upgrade a very low pressure storm....
I guess that a hurricane is only a stronger hurricane if both the wind speed and pressure are confirmed higher now. What next?
Will we have to confirm wind speed, pressure, and symmetry before we upgrade any storm in 2012?
How can we compare current storms to past storms unless we keep consistent standards?
I knew around 2005 that they should have given more weight to estimated wind speed than pressures... The current confusion is a product of those past judgements, IMHO.
But the models could at least all agree within +/-5mb of initial pressure.
That is entirely inexcusable. |
