If Recon goes in and happens to find one point which shows a pressure of 950mb, but with great certainty, then it might be safe to assume that Recon did not find the absolute lowest pressure, as that might take thousands of measurements....

But if the models show that lowest measured point as infinitely small point on a larger map of higher pressures then they assume that all surrounding areas have higher pressure, so there is a bias for higher pressures as the resolution get worse.

What if we made many very cheap and very small gps dropsondes, and what if we simply tied small balloons to each gps dropsonde's antenna so they fell at one hundredth the speed? Might this not allow for many more measurements?
