"Also, if you walked outside of our home, you wouldn't know you are even at the beach by just looking around.".... Developer tears it down so he jack his price 50% for a clear ocean view"

" We really believe we're protected more than others who cleared lots, building homes with flat manicured lawns, and no natural protection.  EI put an end to that sort of development about 35 years ago, and it's paid off handsomely. "

From where I'm at and have been, it doesn't get any better than that.  And if the developers keep trying just kick them right back out.  I lived in a similar town on the west side of Florida.  They built a seawall and within 2 years the beach went from 2-3 hundred feet with dunes like you speak to about 50 feet at low tide.  Then they did the beach "re-nourishment"
.For 2 years you walked on coarsely ground shell and coral instead of the naturally fine polished shells and rock from the ocean that gives you that gorgeous beach sand.  We can't tame her, we must learn to live with her.  And that means building our little mouse holes as safe as possible to withstand the wrath that she can impose.  Until we figure out how to live in harmony with the environment that gives us life, and combine that with the technology we desire, somethings gonna give.

Big props to your community for keeping it real, seriously man.  You dont know how places like yours are going down every day, 10 miles at a time
