It appears to me looking at satellite runs that there is a small mid-level low already that has been spawning convection for days per what LawKat pointed to earlier.  Just a heck of a lot of shear over it...that's alright...It will bring copious amounts of moisture and hopefully much needed rain to a lot of the state.
