A look at 97L

The disturbance has a large well defined surface circulation. Visible sat imagery shows an increase in convection all be it scattered with some banding structure on the eastern side. Current upper air conditions are marginal with moderate SW shear over and ahead of the system. However, deep layer moisture is increasing along the path with higher OHC. Of the global models only the Canadian shows the strongest system others show mostly a weak trough.
In my opinion, this will likely become a named system; especially if the low moves westward into the Caribbean where the most conducive environment will evolve. Think we will have at least a TD as it nears the lessor Antilles and storm across the eastern or central carib sea. |
