Don't pay attention to the strength of the GFS. They had Arthur hitting NC as a depression. They're not one to forecast strength.

The key to this thing developing is if it takes a southern route. It's going to struggle for the next 72 hours but it takes a more southern route like some are starting to suggest, it could hold itself together and get into the GOM. The weaker it stays, the more likely it goes further south. Of course, it could fall apart altogether with the shear it's about to encounter so who knows.
