The red tide in the Gulf seems to be an annual occurrence, at least during the years I lived in the area. This year is particularly bad. However, to my knowledge, it has nothing to do with releases from Lake Okeechobee. Those releases cause algae blooms in the waterways to the east of the lake, not to the west, such as the Gulf. Separate problem. |
