The size of the storm is increasing and the storm is forecast to be category 4 near landfall

I hate too focus on the track too closely, as it will likely change, but I wanted to point out it will be category 4 strength close to landfall on the current forecast track.

The size of the storm is increasing too. If it did weaken some, the storm surge could still be that of about a category 4.
But the path could change. If it were to not make that move toward the WSW or west until after landfall, a category four storm could make landfall. Even if it did make that move later, it could still be stronger at landfall. People that have been ordered to evacuate need to do so. They shouldn't count on it weakening in the hours before landfall. It's too late to evacuate then.
I'd rather not focus on the fact that it could always be worse until after the storm. (Though to be clear, for some people their house will be washed away so it will be as bad as it can get for them personally.) |
