It is happening faster than anyone is paying attention to.
In Bayou La Batre and Coden, Alabama, where shoreline used to be 50 to 100 yards from the road around the bay and bayou, the water now laps up onto the roadside. And were not talking sandy shores, and beach erosion. Were talking loss of dark, hard ground, like youd find along any shoreline or bayou in Louisiana. Gone. That has happened in the past twenty years or less. |
