Human nature. You are not wrong to have those thoughts. What you are, I am sure, is exhausted, emotional, and likely worried about the preparations you didn't have a chance to make for your own home because you were so busy caring for others in such great need. It is terrible...and it is terrifying. You are a good person, MellowRN. Go easy on yourself, you deserve to catch a break. <Hugs>

As a side note, my husband had the most attentive, amazing nurses during his heart surgery and recovery. They worked long hours, kept their patience no matter what, and were always "on", sharp and awake despite their LONG hours of duty. It broke my heart to hear that many of them also take side jobs at a local nursing home/rehab center there and that they are the same nurses that visit him at home daily during his recuperation. For what you do, you should be paid enough to at least not need a part-time job to supplement! :'( As a teacher, I will no longer complain about the low pay and extra hours put in...it simply does not compare to what you nurses face. Thank you for what you do. <3

Never berate yourself. You are absolutely fine.
