I know they are often not fully tropical, or not at all tropical, but it wouldn't have been so much of a surprise today that it was stronger. Also, recon could have verified if the satellite wind estimates were correct.

And, the threat to the U.S. was not finished either. Cape Cod was still to be impacted somewhat.

I guess it's just really far. They would have to takeoff from someplace closer. But they do that for the Caribbean.
