I wish they would do the IKE scale. I keep forgetting that I do have the simplistic version of IKE integrated into the model system on the best track page:
Josephine: http://hurricanecity.com/models/models.cgi?basin=al&year=2020&storm=11&display=best_track&simple=&city_distances=&ike=1
Kyle: http://hurricanecity.com/models/models.cgi?basin=al&year=2020&storm=12&display=best_track&simple=&city_distances=&ike=1
You have to turn it on when going to the best track page and it's currently only on the table, not at the top of the page. It uses the very simple equation based on the four quadrants of basic wind radii data, not what that site that you have to pay for has that is very detailed and uses other data, like recon, in it too to be more representative of the storm.
I keep forgetting to add some of those to my site. https://www.windy.com/ too. I'll add it to my list. I find organizing links to be harder than coding the model and recon systems. I have to find a good way to explain some of the links and it's hard to figure out what to say about some, especially when it's technical and is over my head, but the link is worth posting.
Glad to hear she didn't have any structural damage. That's a lot of time without power. I know it's not compared to some storms, but I can't imagine being without power even for that long.
I did see the news about the derecho briefly as the line went across the US. That, tornadoes, N.C. earthquake, and the national news didn't cover it again after the initial reports. |
