Re: River flooding continues in Florida

A section og Route 72 between Arcadia and Port Charlotte washed awy, as did two sections of Brownsville Road. 17 is flooded and impassable between Hardee Co and Desoto as well as between Punta Gorda and Arcadia. I live on Arcadia Island, surrounded by the Peace Ocean. <wink>

We were lucky beyond words. Just a small hole in the shed roof and limbs around the yard (both issues being solved by my good neighbor). We were well stocked, electricity is on and we have water. That is not the case by any means with many here, especially those out of town. Close friends in their early 70s canoed out of their property in the middle of the cane leaving behind their home (with 3-4 ft. of water filling it), and their wildlife sanctuary. Their car, which has been parked at the road for weeks, due to existing flooding, was underwater. They managed to get to safety with friends in Port Charlotte, but have lost everything...they own only their canoe and the clothes on their backs.

I hope all here are safe, and in comfort.
