I'm glad you didn't have any damage at your house. I wondered if you might be without power with so many people having lost it in that area. I didn't think about the other services being down longer than the power was.

Having trees are nice when they're not huge. My dad likes to say that you don't think about them being an issue when you first plant one. But decades later they can be a major issue. They can fall on a house or car, which turned deadly for some of the recent storms. Roots can damage your foundation, pool, sidewalks and driveway. I recently got a letter from my homeowner's association about the difference in elevation between my sidewalk and driveway. A lot of people did. I borrowed a neighbor's angle grinder and smoothed it out some so someone doesn't trip. But it was caused many years ago by tree roots. We got rid of most of our trees many years ago for that reason and also because we didn't want them near the house in case they fell. Insurance company checks to make sure nothing touches, not sure if they look at what might hang over a house or close enough where it could do damage if it fell.

There has been a lot of severe weather this year so far. It just keeps getting worse unfortunately.

I hope everyone does okay this hurricane season. All people can do is prepare. There will probably be some significant impacts this season. All people can do is prepare and evacuate when it's time. No matter how often someone gets threatened, they have to always evacuate. It's just something people along and around the coast have to deal with. When we get tired of it, then it's time to move I guess.
