I did read that paper about 5 or 6 years ago and it was speculating on SAL triggering TC's.

I don't think I ever saw genesis in a heavy SAL area.

Maybe the microscopic structure of volcanic ash is different and could have an effect on nucleation.

Will be interesting to watch it and see for the next few days.
