Thanks for the responses. It will be interesting to see what the ash creates that is different.

I was wondering along the lines of:
--if the ash cloud magnified heat from the sun through the glass particles
--or the cloud trapped heat from below
--the cloud blocks heat from the sun

All would affect the weather temporarily and we are close to the "official" hurricane season. Hmmm
