Alligator Point / Big Bend

I am retired and live full-time in a house that sits on high pilings behind a granite revetment just 60 feet from the water's edge which gives me both close up and long distance views of the open gulf.  The Ochlockonee river flows into the gulf not far from our beach front as a point of reference for those of you who have never heard of Alligator Point.  Bald Point State Park is at the far eastern edge of our contiguous shoreline where it meets the Ochlockonee river and I am able to walk along the beach to that state park from my house.  So far, the water is beautiful and clear.  We have had no evidence of any oil in the water or on the sand here as far as I can determine from my own observations.  Sea turtles have begun making tracks as they crawl ashore to nest here.  I am a member of the Alligator Point Sea Turtle Patrol volunteers and have gone through the training required to help rescue sea turtles if it becomes necessary.  I am very worried about what is happening at depths that I cannot see and what the future holds for all the inhabitants of this beautiful place.
