It will be 90 years next October 21 since Tarpon Springs saw its last direct hit from a hurricane.  That 1921 storm formed in essentially the same area that Matthew did.

And a hit on this little city would be a worst case scenario for the city of Tampa because it would bring Tampa Bay up into the city.  Most the of buildings in Tarpon are old and were built prior to the changes after Andrew and Charley.  A cat 4 would join the Gulf with Lake Tarpon and Tampa Bay and cut off land access to northern Pinellas County.

So I take any Gulf storm seriously.  I'm only 1/2 mile from the water. Supposedly Level C ... but after seeing recent Gulf surges, I'd say those evacuation maps are a crap shoot at best.  As bad as the intensity forecasting.

So we'll go with the first call for a voluntary evacuation for any storm bearing down on us from the Gulf.
