I'm very familiar with the 1921 storm; I used to research it when I lived in St. Pete. One thing that fascinates me about that storm is that it hit Tampa in the midst of a delusional real estate boom in Fla. that was the equivalent of a gold rush, and because the local economy relied so heavily on a perpetuation of that real estate bubble, most newspaper accounts of the storm minimized the flooding and damage that ensued, and memory of the storm was pretty swiftly swept under the rug to carry on with the real estate rush.
