While a large and dangerous winter weather system is forecast to pass over portions of the central United States from Monday through Wednesday, our region might not be entirely out of the path.
A winter storm watch has been issued for nearly all of Missouri and Illinois, with only the southern-most portions of the two states not included.
"I would call this a historic and significant winter system, with widespread damage across Missouri and Illinois," said Beau Dodson, a meteorologist for the McCracken County Office of Emergency Management. "I would compare this with the late 1970s blizzard."
