Re: A single universal field of intelligence

""We attempt to understand quantum-level phenomena by correlating with our own daily experiences and the macro-level models we have built in our heads (Newtonian Physics).""

Yes we do; and we do so precisely BECAUSE we live in the world of Newtonian Physics.

Does relativity affect our daily lives? Nope. Why would anyone believe the subatomic world does?
The subatomic world is a world of elementary structure; all existence is built upon that world but to say it affects consciousness is akin to saying bricks affect consciousness.

Consciousness (recently defined by neuroscience) exists in the molecular world...which alas....makes it Newtonian.

""It is a whole different abstraction when you get into the world of quantum mechanics - all things become possible.""

Not so. If I jump off my balcony I'm gonna pay for it - quantum be damned. (We are constantly reminded how little the quantum world has to do with out daily lives!)

""And you know, in the back of my mind, I think it would be arrogant to think we are the highest form of intelligence in this universe.""

That should be not at the back, but in the front of your mind. With an observable universe nearly 14 Billion light-years across...there are likely countless civilizations out there.

That we've never made contact with anyone else boosts my confidence in math and physics. Intelligent civilizations may slowly spread from solar system to solar system but it's implausible that beings that in any way resemble us are zooming about star to star on spaceships; the factors that inhibit such are monumental.
