A news organization telling me how many quakes there have been is just information without context. I hate it when they do that.

If the geologic community were as a whole alarmed (as they were before Mt. St. Helens blew up,) I'd certainly take note. But being I don't know the full geologic history of Arkansas...how the heck can I put anything in perspective?

I don't even know the frequency of major quakes there. Nor do I know the frequency in South Carolina (where a big one struck in the 1700s I believe.)

That people fear what they don't understand is clearly human nature since time immemorial, but I tend not to fear what I don't understand so I'm not bothered by those quakes. I'd have to know a lot more about it before becoming fearful.
