The more stressed the plants get the faster things break down.
If the spent fuel pool is warmer than normal then steam may go into new places, which can short wiring and overheat electronics.
Warm pools may require even more energy to try to cool while they have less options to cool.
IMHO, these flooded reactors need multiple redundant plans implemented along side each other with immediate and persistent attention now and over the next month, and the plans should be mandated at the Federal Level with little regard to the costs to cool the spent fuel tanks down. |
