I don't think that would work. There is nothing to keep the boron next to the radioactive material.

Say you got a hot spot and it starts boiling/burning, it may be near flowing water, but the water may not be able to get close enough to cool it. Some of the radio active material may enter the flowing water but it will be too dispersed with a lot of water to try to keep boron around it.

Also, I'm not sure how well the boron worked at Chernobyl.

How do we control muddy water near old fuel rods which may move around (and pile up) if the water boils?

There are so many potential problems with this scenario if we let it go bad. I'm very uncomfortable with the way things are going...

I hope the Feds are taking this very seriously.

Maybe next week the weather will get better...
