once you get hooked on weather, it keeps you in it's grip for the rest of your life.  I remember peeking out through the blankets my older sister had hung on windows to block the lightning she was afraid of, to get a better view of the storm, when I was like 4 or 5... my Dad used to talk about weather with a reverence, he was a farmer once upon a time, I guess I got the bug from him

tropical weather first got my attn in '98, some time after moving to TX & my home, at the time, flooded from Frances on Sept 11th - we eventually sold out to the flood control district after flooding even worse in Allison, that home & many others are long demolished - 7 years ago, we built our home in Cypress & since then Ivan, Katrina, Gustav, Rita & the most recently, Ike - Sept 13th, have all kept my attn, as well as many more.

it's always a marathon in Sept, the thick of the season, it seems, even when it's slow - this song always reminds me of that "marathon month"
