TCCOR 3!

Good morning, Okinawa! Well, typhoon trackers and meteorologists across the Pacific are gleefully rubbing their hands together and grinning like a kid who just got a snow day on the morning he forgot to study for that big test. "Sanba" is now what's called an "annular typhoon" which is very rare (about 2% of all Western Pacific typhoons). But better than that: the meteorological nickname for an annular typhoon is a "doughnut typhoon." Mmmmm. Doughnut typhooooon.

What do you need to know about Doughnut Typhoons? They are smaller, have smaller rain bands, have a large, well-defined eye and they maintain peak intensity longer, even when the weather conditions aren't good for sustaining a typhoon. AND, there is no eyewall replacement cycle for a doughnut typhoon - Steve. ;)

And you should go buy doughnuts. Mmmmm.

We're in TCCOR 3 and have been since really early this morning - about the same time our Chief Petty Officer Inductees were completing the last phase in their grueling "staions" at White Beach prior to donning their Chief's cover this morning. BZ, new CPOs! See you in a few hours!

Get your TCCOR 3 stuff done - and it's not a bad idea to look over the TCCOR 2 stuff since it's now almost certain we'll be in TCCOR 2 by tomorrow morning. Sanba is trucking along at about seven knots and will be here right on schedule to screw with Sunday and give us a bright and work-filled Monday. Stay tuned, stay safe - and buy doughnuts. Mmmmmm. Doughnuts. Stormy
