The Irene comparisons should be limited because we're dealing with apples and oranges, IMO. This is not your typical TC moving up a coast. Irene fell apart basically prior to reaching NYC. It was a naked swirl by the time it made landfall and Cantore was reporting from drizzle conditions.

Of course Irene wreaked havoc in my locales, but I don't think these two should be compared at all. the only thing similar is the location of the event IMHO.  And that goes for both Irenes! (11, 99)
