It coming it at Evedrglades city will make a big difference. It puts the populated areas of west coast on the weaker side of the storm versus getting raked by it right off shore. It is worse from the perspective it has more impact on east coast population centers than a just off the west coast run.

It appears to be showing a possible landfall around Everglades city with a run up SR 29. This puts Golden Gate, Naples, Bonita and Lehigh on the weaker side. Only big town out there is Immokelee (24K) and then La Belle getting a direct hit. after that you go all the way to Lake Placid before eye wall is back into a large population center.

It could not pick a more sparsely populated area to hit in South Florida except maybe a tad eastward from there. While the area I grew up in would get blasted, this is better than a Naples northward to Tampa strike. I do not know if this will come about because not a lot of faith in GFS on this storm.

Just an opinion nothing more nothing less.
