blood banks & snowbirds

I never even thought of blood banks Chris - urgent need already https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus--covid-19--and-blood-donation.html

From their site: The American Red Cross has implemented new blood donation deferrals out of an abundance of caution. We are now asking that individuals postpone their donation for 28 days following:

Travel to China and its special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Iran, Italy and South Korea. Diagnosis of COVID-19, contact with a person who has the virus, or is suspected to have it.

As the situation evolves, the Red Cross will continue to evaluate all emerging risks in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and industry partners to determine if additional intervention strategies are needed. Together, we stand ready to keep the American public informed and prepared.

Hard to know if you've been in contact with someone who may have it for certain if they are not testing for it on a broader basis :(

so many things we take for granted that will be affected

I was thinking of all the snowbirds that spend winters in southern states & travel back to their northern residence in spring, usually older & therefore more vulnerable to this virus. My in-laws used to travel from N Ft Myers area to TX, stay with various family here for up to a month, then make their way to Michigan every year. That leaves a lot of places to pick up a virus & hard to trace. That usually happened in early to mid April, but they are both gone now.

Allergies have been crazy here, but slowly getting better. Going anywhere & needing to sneeze will get you looks like you've just transmitted a death sentence.

I read here that some steroids can adversely affect how your body can cope with the virus & it's effects. I take them for allergies & eczema, might need to switch allergy meds for a time.
